The Napa Style store is a favorite stop of mine whenever I’m in Yountville, California. Right across the walkway is Bottega Restaurant which is also owned by celebrity Chef Michael Chiarello. Whether you have lunch at Bottega or browse the store, you will get a sense of Michael’s philosophy and approach to food, family, and table. I’m always inspired by the gorgeous layout of the store and the variety of products to browse.
At the Yountville location, you will find a wine bar, a cafe, and variety of Napa inspired culinary tools, furniture, home decor, cookbooks, and wine related products. Michael’s fabulous salts, sauces, and herb blends make great souvenirs. I love the Herbs de Napa blend, which is a play on the French, Herbs du Provence, including dried rosemary, bay, lavender, savory, and fennel. On the label it suggests for use on rabbit, fish, and poultry, but I’ve found it makes a delicious crust, along with olive oil and chopped garlic, on a roast pork loin.
Before I visited Napa Style and watched ‘Easy Entertaining’, Chef Chiarello’s, Emmy Award-Winning program, I never gave salt a second thought. Napa Style carries a variety of salts, including grey salt which is harvested on the Brittany Coast. This salt is life changing. The texture is crunchy, the taste delicate, and its cooking applications are endless. The flavor grey salt imparts takes steaks to another level, goes well in soups and stews, and is now my go to salt in the kitchen.
If you are interested in finding out more, there are Napa Style stores open in other areas, also a catalog, and of course online. If I can make a suggestion, visit the flagship store in Napa, to really get a sense of all it has to offer. Of course, while you are in the area, you might want to visit a few wineries.
