As many of you know, I have a thing for grocery stores. I'll be the first to admit that it's a strange obsession of mine, but a grocery store is a real oasis to me. Even when I'm on a trip to Napa, I can't resist hitting the local hang out, Oakville Grocery, which happens to be an old-fashioned store filled with treats and products from producers in the area. From the outside, it looks like an old house plunked right on the side of highway 29, which runs through Napa.
Locals and tourists alike, stop by for a coffee, and take a break on the front porch. If you don't want to watch the cars flying by, head to the sitting area out back. There, you'll find a view of a vineyard and the gorgeous hills behind surrounding it.
Of course, I'm most captivated by what they have stocked on the shelves. You can find a variety of mustards, honey, wines, cheeses, all Napa made. There is nothing better then bringing home goodies that remind you of a wonderful trip, every time you take a bite. You might even consider picking up provisions for a picnic, since they make sandwiches and other foods to go. I recommend checking out their website where they offer recipes that incorporate many of the products they carry.
